AVW have again
won the prestigious Product of the Year award in the Engineering
category at this years ABTT Theatre Show for Pegasus,
their new Power Flying System. They previously won the same
award in 2002 for their very successful Impressario
motion control system.
Anton Woodward, Managing Director of AVW, was
presented with the award by Secretary of the ABTT, Robin
Townley at the annual ABTT awards dinner.
On receiving
the award, Anton commented “We are very pleased to win this award, though of
course Mike Barnett should take most of the credit!"

The Pegasus
Power Flying solution, comprising the Alpha, Beta,
Delta, Omega and Pi hoists is designed to complement the Impressario
stage automation system, so that AVW can offer the complete
power flying solution.
In collaboration with
respected mechanical design engineer Mike Barnett, AVW has
designed a range of hoists for use in theatre and
entertainment venues, primarily for lifting scenery,
lighting bars and curtain tracks.
For over 20 years the ABTT has provided industry-wide
recognition for exceptional products that serve the
entertainment industry. Pegasus
stood out from the crowd, impressing the judges with its
zero-fleet technology at an unbeatable price.
The ABTT traditionally presented a generic award for best
product, but with an increasingly diverse supply of
products, in 2002 it was decided that in order to make the
awards more focused and prestigious, three awards should be
given: best lighting product, best sound product and best
engineering product. Alongside these the ABTT also present
awards for best technician and the ABTT Lifetime Achievement
award.
